International Rose Test Garden

The garden for "The City of Roses" contains over 7,000 rose plants of over 500 varieties with blooms from April through October. The garden is free and open to the public and is the oldest continually operating rose garden in the country. Checkout the latest cultivars from around the world while gazing out towards Mt. Hood and downtown Portland.

Japanese Gardens

The Portland Japanese garden is a beautiful traditional Japanese garden located just behind the International Rose Test Garden. The garden placed second for quality of 300 public Japanese gardens outside of Japan, and the Japanese Ambassador to the U.S. has said it's the most authentic Japanese garden. Admission is $10.

Powell's Book Store

Powell's is one of the largest independent book stores in the world, with over four floors of books and a flagship that covers an entire city block. Don't miss the rare book collection on the third floor.
